So its been a while since my last post but that is not for a lack of great beer in my life. Tonight i want to talk about a great beer i almost did not try. Sierra Nevada Glassade. You might ask why i did not pick this beer. For me Sierra Nevada makes great IPA's, pale ales, and the always wonderful Bigfoot Ale. Glassade is a light golden bock. I have decided to change how i write about beer in order to make a more concise thought stream. i am going to use the Appearance, Smell, Taste, Mouth feel, and Drinkability. (astmd)
A: This beer is light and sparkly. I am drinking it out of the Sam Adams Beer glass so that helps to keep it bubbling throughout. The head is bright white and foams quick but vanishes soon.
S: The smell is slightly malty but light at the same time. You know you are getting a quality beer that might appear light in color but has nothing to do with light beer.
T: The taste is light and crisp, airy and light with a slight hit of hops in the back end. It is some what light but still packs in a great amount of flavor.
M: Sharp and bubbly with a great smoothness. It is refreshing and easy to gulp down.
D: This is a great drinking beer. Summer in a glass. Sit on a porch and have a few. It is great ice cold and not so strong that it pushes you away. You know this is not PBR but it is not a complex beer. This could be a great beer for someone who want to try something other than the big box American beers.
With that all being said it is a beer i would buy again. Not as a beer to have and savor on its own but as a beer for a nice summer bbq. It is a bock but just so. Remember that it runs at 6.4 percent abv so it is stronger than the big box beers but not by that much so be careful in the sun. Cheers.
